Charge 5 not turning on or being detected

Yesterday after do stair master and sweating alot although i assumed a Fitbit was meant to be fine against sweat and water because it has a swim mode my charge 5 stopped working it didn't turn on and wouldn't get detected by the app so I tried charging it with a third party charger that I regularly use and it would flash the Fitbit Logo the screen would refresh then it would turn off I did this a few times but it started heating alot and smelling like it was burnt so I waited a day and now it doesn't respond at all to the charger

The same thing happened to me! I am here to find out what to do.

Contact support and they will probably send a replacement. But don’t get the replacement wet at all, because it will fail and they won’t replace the replacement. I don’t know why they continue to advertise them as water resistant when they’re clearly not.
