Charge 5 not turning on

Charge 5 is dead. Was fully charged but just stopped working. Didn’t notice for a while but tapped to check info and it’s not doing anything. Cleaned contacts and plugged in charger, pressed button 3 times etc etc. Nothing, nada, zilch. Please help!

Mine will get stuck on the boot screen after it drains the battery and sometimes after hours it will restart and work then just to go right back to the boot screen and lock up.. Restarting doesn't work.

All day today mine has been on the fritz.. Charge won't last more than 24 hours and constantly gets stuck booting and if it does boot and run its not long before it crashes.. I know the app did an update a few days ago.. Possible bad update? Have to say more problems have come into play after Google took over fitbit. I haven't migrated my account as I have seen more problems with those who did.m Now I'm having issues not only with the scale but not with the watch. Please test these these things out before you make the public us them and make it useless to us!

I’m having the same issue. Black screen and I can’t restart it as recommended. The screen stays black when connected to the charger, doesn't vibrate when connected.

Dame with mine, 76% charge then got an x in acred circle. Tried rebooting but nothing happening, just a 'dead' watch. This is after also having issues with it not holding a charge/running out of power in less than 24 hours.

I’m having similar issues. Originally got :cross_mark: on the screen. Tried charging and the :cross_mark: changed to the Fitbit logo  In both instances the unit was unresponsive. Put it on the charger for a full day and it came back to life, synced, all good. Then 2 days later totally unresponsive. Tried resetting several times but nothing. I see lots of people with the same problem or similar, but have yet to see a response from Fitbit techs.

I also have the dead device. When I do the reboot, it buzzes once, shows the fitbit logo then goes dead. Also no bluetooth connection available when in that state.

Meant to say bluetooth unavailable

Looks like it's more than just the Charge 5.. I have seen a few other posts on other watches and they're having similar problems. Did they force a firmware update? And I'm surprised that there hasn't been a fitbit tech responding to all the posts letting us know something at least 🤦🏻‍:male_sign:

My Fitbit charger 5 has a black screen and will not charge today. Just paid my yearly premium and nothing works now. Very frustrated!

Mine too.  Just quit working yesterday and it will not turn on or charge up.  First time I have ever had a problem.  It's still under warranty but can't find any info on how to get warranty service or help.

Ditto, exactly as described - so weird and frustrating!

Mine also died on Sunday. It had a good charge (no pun intended) and I go to tap it and check the time and I got nothing. It won't do anything when I plug it in either. Ugh. I'm so frustrated!

Mine died Sunday afternoon also. Checked it during a bike ride, it was fine. Then at end of bike ride, it was dead.

Hi everyone, I appreciate all the comments and feedback that you've provided about this issue with the Charge 5.

As you may have seen in the forums, there's a series of steps that are usually recommended with display issues before getting in touch with Support:

  1. Complete the 3 pulse restart procedure using the charging cable.
  2. Follow these steps in case you're having trouble to charge your device.
  3. Please sync your device in the Fitbit app by tapping your profile picture > Charge 5 > Sync Now.
  4. If you  can't sync, tap on your profile picture > Charge 5 > Tap to see if a firmware banner appears.
  5. If it's still unresponsive, please try changing the clock face as well and check if you're able to see anything on the display.

If the issue persists after these steps, I do recommend that you contact the Customer Support team so your case can be evaluated individually. I'm sure they'll let you know about the options available for you. You can chat with them or call them directly for a more immediate assistance.

Did all of that and have been since this all happened over last weekend.. This is all we have.. Sometimes when it goes from full battery it will work for 10min to a few hours.. The goes to the logo until it drains the battery in a couple of hours to 15% then there is a new battery low screen as it works until it crashes again draining the battery completely

Yes that sounds exactly what happens to mine. Has anyone found a solution?

This is similar to mine as of this morning, but mine isn't actually dead - the screen just won't turn on. It is still counting steps, tracking my heartbeat, syncing, everything like that. But the screen is completely black. I hard reset it twice from the charger end. Both times, it returned to normal for about five minutes, then the screen stopped working again. The app keeps asking me to update the firmware, but it never completes and it continues to ask me to do the same. I assume I'll have to call customer support, but wanted to give these details since I initially thought the thing was completely dead, but it isn't. Gives me hope that if they fix what I assume is a firmware bug, that this might still be salvageable.

Update: Unfortunately, after a tech support chat with Fitbit, it seems that it is not salvageable. Glad my device is under warranty, but we'll see how long it takes for a replacement to arrive since it seems tons of others are affected by this, too.
