I just bought a Charge 5 for my fiancé. We were trying to set it up and everything was running smoothly until it got to the update menu. It keeps telling me the update failed. I have reset the fitbit multiple times, deleted the app and the cache, reset the fitbit and still nothing! I don’t know if I should exchange it or see if customer support can do anything. I don’t know what to do! It’s been two days and still the same thing! Fitbit is also fully charged and followed all the steps that you guys have been telling me to do.

I'm not sure if this "worked" for me or not, but eventually, I did get the update to work. I had charged the Fitbit to 100% but it was NOT on the charger when I started the update. The instructions say to do that, but make it seem like sort of an option. I ultimately got the update to work by putting the Fitbit on the charger AND keeping the phone close. Possibly you've done that too. I'd say just keep trying, but even though I've updated, my Charge 5 is still not working fully and properly.

For android, move the fitbit app to the background before the phones screen times out.
