Charge 5 stopped working after getting wet

I had taken my charge 5 to the beach. I did not swim. I sat there while the waves swept by legs and hands. The watch's display didn't show anything despite it having enough charge. I reached home and gently washed it with tap water to get rid of the tiny sand particles as advised. I left it overnight and then in the morning I charged it once more. The display started working again and the charge was 100% but the touchscreen failed to work and soon in 1 min the display turned off. All functions seemed to work but when I synced it again hoping it would get fixed the battery has already drained from 100% to 44%...

Help would be appreciated...

Ok, first of all, there is a HUGE difference between "water Resistant" and "waterproof".  "Water Resistant" simply means that the device will have some sort of protection until a certain depth of water is reached.  I heard that for Fitbit, this threshold is 50 meters.  "Waterproof" means that the device has protection from the water, regardless of the depth.  

The best thing that you could have done would have been to take it off immediately and dry it right then and there.  Since that was not an option at the time, your best bet is to contact Support.

Hi there, @AaravKoul. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 has stopped working. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As @DramaQueenDiva has shared with you, please note most Fitbit devices are water-resistant to 50 meters. They're designed to be swimproof and stand up to even the sweatiest of workouts. See our user manuals for specifics as to whether your device is swimproof or splashproof.

Regarding the main issue, if your device got 
wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit device.
