My iOS16.5.1 so is up to date. I checked for updates for Fitbit but there weren't any. I've tried turning off the Bluetooth, turned back on and tried going thru the 'set up' procedure. When that didn't work I pushed the button on the charger 3 times like indicated and still not charging and not working. It is as if it is DOA. So went to the back up Charge 5 and tried setting that up and could not believe that wouldn't work either.

You never mentioned exactly what your problem is, so until you do that, we can't help you.

Charge 5 doesn't sync and restarting does not work either.

Unpair it from your phone (I assume you're using a phone) and pair it to your account again. It's the same process you used to initially set up your device.
Also, make sure that the Fitbit app is updated, and that there aren't any other BTs or Fitbits in the area (if there is, they'll need to be turned off or moved).
Restarting the phone should help, also force stopping the app, clearing the app cache, doing a fresh install of the app.
For what it's worth, Fitbit does seem to have issues with syncing today (I had trouble with this myself).

I'm using my iPad as I have no iPhone. I don't want to remove the App as I'd lose previous info.
I've turned off Bluetooth then turned it on opened the fitbit app, tapped on my face, tapped on set up, says it is connected but NOTHING else happens.
A few times it asked me to press the button on the flat part of the charger which I've done and NOTHING happens. All my fitbit says is Calories no steps. I have done this same scenario over and over maybe 15 times today.

You wouldn't lose any info if you re-downloaded the app.

I'm a nobody....but the other day there was problems on Android with syncing and it turns out they were having a server issue on the company end. Today a bunch of apple people have had problems so I would wait.

I'm an Android person and I had issues with mine syncing today.
@saundra125, have you tried unpairing the device from your BT and pairing it back up?
If the answer is yes and it still doesn't work, I'd do what @CoreyMS suggested and wait.

You were so right, I waited and evidently the 'powers that be' realized the problem was in their programming or a glitch would not allow many of us to sync. It is now working until the next time. BTW, I've had a lot of these same issues but this one took longer for them to fix.

Mine stopped working yesterday. I updated the Firmware after charging it. I works fine now. Good luck.

Just an update, my Charge 5 no longer works. Went through all the troubleshooting with Customer Service and basically they offered 35% off a new device. My Charge 5 was purchased in Feb. 2022. Not satisfied at all as I have purchased trackers and the Ionic as gifts and they basically broke the device with their rollout. Maybe they deliberately bricked them so that people will buy Google watches?
I'm glad it worked out for some people. The strangest software update rollout ever.
