Charge 5 only works when connected to charger

I've had my charge 5 just over 18 months. Yesterday it was working fine during my workout but then i got home and the screen blacked out (it had plenty of battery). It wouldn't respond so I connected it to the charger. Got the fitbit logo and it said 1% battery so left it to charge. Once charged the screen would still not turn on. Put back on charge and is back to 1%?! I have tried multiple resets etc but this is happening every time.

Has anyone else had this issue and were you able to fix it?
