Charge 5 rapid battery drain, then unresponsive

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 5 is on version 188.58 only holds its charge immediately after charging. Within hours it's unresponsive (the screen won't even illuminate) and when charging again registers single-digit battery percentages. I was going to try updating the version to the latest, but I've seen in other thread that the issue persists.

What do I need to do? Dead trackers won't track. This may be the last straw and my last Fitbit.

I have the same issue. Definitely thinking of moving to Apple. I've been a FitBit user for years and every year or so something breaks.

Same here since yesterday, first not responding when touching the screen, later went black, and today after charging it drained within an hour….

I have the same problem, on the phone with customer support after the chat support told me to try to charge it and see what happens when I had told them I did all the reset, and tried to charge for the last 2 days and it still drains in less than 5 hours.

I am also having this trouble.  I got a bit more time out of it - and even one night's sleep by restarting from the device it after it was holding it's screen on for long enough.  Now it's not turning on, even to charge.

I have restarted, charged, cleaned contacts with rubbing alcohol, not in that order.  Sometimes multiple times.  Same firmware version (188.58).  I haven't reached out to fitbit yet because it seems everyone here is.  But for gosh sakes...  I may have to bail on fitbit.  Makes me sad.

UPDATE: I reached out to Support (https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/support?language=en_US) and explained what was/n't happening and after a useful battery of diagnostic questions -- and them being able to see my battery drain in under 24 hours -- was able to get a replacement device sent. I bought mine just under a year ago, so that probably helped. The options provided were replacement of existing or 50% off of a different one, so that was cool of them to have those options.

My fitbit is out of warranty unfortunately, but the outcome of this kind of issue will determine what I do next.  I paid for premium and the fact that the hardware might be toast doesn't sit well.  It's not dead yet (again) so I'm trying to be hopeful.

this feels like a problem with a recent update or something, mine is from when it first released and I have had no problems up to the week prior, I don't see in the app how I can tell when the firmware update occurred but this many people having almost identical issues seems suspect.  I am also on version 188.58, mine started this yesterday, 7/20, after I finished mowing my lawn which it seemed to count steps for up until I was done and the previous night it was at 56% which I would expect to last at least 2-3 more days.

It hasn’t been a year since I bought mine and I was told that they were looking into it and would get an email. It’s been a week and I haven’t been replied to and it seems I’ve been locked out of being able to reach them any more
