My screen went black. I tried the hard reset by connecting it to the charger and pressing the button on the cable 3 times, I was able to install an update in the app and change the clock but the screen is still black. Any suggestions on what to do next?

A few hours ago mine also stopped working, has a black screen, and will not charge. The battery was around 60% before this happened.

I have same, and yes I have tried all the reset suggestions, and I did allow to completely run out of battery and recharge. It seems it is functioning as my steps etc are getting updated in app, just no screen.

I have the same problem that happened suddenly today. I also tried the 3x button reset and it didn’t work although I do feel the vibration and I am still getting vibrations for notifications. Hoping there is a solution or replacement option.

You have done all the things customer service will suggest, and at this point your device is done for. (in my experience) I am working on my 3rd replacement right now. Similar problem. First a white line appeared at the bottom of my screen, and then it glitched blank a few times but came back. Now it's a dark grey pixelated screen. None of the restart procedures worked. At first, even though the screen was blank it was still tracking everything. But now some tracking features have stopped as it seems to be slowly leaving the world of the living.
Honestly, contrary to what most people have said on these forums, I've found customer service to be helpful and easy to get ahold of. However, I think it's high time they acknowledge the product seriously has some flaws. I would be very happy if they would just allow me to put my replacement toward an upgrade. I like the product a lot, before it crashes and dies. Why wouldn't they want my money if I paid the difference to move up to a Charge 6?

Mine did the same thing a few days ago. Contacted customer support and all they said was to try resetting it then charging it but all I have is a black screen. Not impressed with it at all. I havent had it even for a year.

Yah I haven't had it a year yet either.

If you haven't had it full year then you should still have warranty. I got free replacement for my charge 4 two years ago that was less than year old. Not sure if its changed since its Fitbit under google now

Ok here is an update. I left it on charger for over 6hrs. The clock face came back but i noticed it was showing date. Then it updated to the correct date but it still wasn't tracking my steps. It kept blinking on and off. I noticed that heart rate measurement was blank. I Looked at the back of fitbit and notice that green light wasn't blinking. Now its clock face is gone and its blinking on/off with just the blue pixel screen. I think its done and Im so disappointed. This is my last one. Im gonna get apple watch

Mine’s like that as well… all black screen after the update. It had 73% when I updated it, and now it won’t react to anything, won’t charge or react to the charger, won’t connect to my phone… The little lights on the back of it is gone, too…
EDIT: I got my charge 5 during summer 2022, so mine’s just 1,5 yrs old🤷🏼:female_sign: still, this shouldn’t happen… I hope Fitbit will fix this, I need my watch to notify me if stuff happens and to track my activity.

I am having the exact same issue. Charge 5 screen went all black at 70% battery and would not charge (real ironic). I tried reseting and it charged up to 95% at one point, but died instantly as soon as I disconnected it. Now the screen is still unresponsive and it still will not charge or hold any battery. I only use my watch for activity tracking and have had it for about a year. Hopefully Fitbit will be responsive since it does seem like a widespread problem even with relatively new devices.

So after days of trying to connect with Customer Service I was finally able to get this resolved. They are sending me a label to return the device and will send me a new one. This will probably be my last Fitbit because customer service is a nightmare and I am done paying for these devices when they don't seem to last a full year. Luckily, it was still under warranty.
