Charge 5 shows red circle with an “x”

On July 25th my charge 5 started doing everything listed in other posts. Black screen, endless boot loop, red circle with an “x” in the middle on the display and no blue tooth connectivity with my phone. I let the device fully discharge and then charged it back up again and so far the display seems to work normally. Now the issue is my device has just over a 1 hour battery life. With the shear amount of complaints with the exact same issues occurring at roughly the same time, one would assume it’s caused by the last firmware update. A discount is unacceptable and I’m not even sure I want another fit bit/ google device.

Not surprised, from my recent customer service experience, it feels like they completely stopped caring about the Fitbit all together. I hope you find a solution, but otherwise, run away and never look back 😉

I have had Fitbits since 2017. I've been an Android user for 2 decades. I've used Gmail from it's inception as my primary email account.

In part my motivation has been to resist the autocratic alternative offered by Apple.

However I now believe I have to  find an alternative.

My Fitbit charge 5 was working perfectly until yesterday, when an update left it slowly flashing the logo.

I persisted through a polite exchange with Fitbit, only to find that my only alternative is to buy a replacement with 35% discount.

This is witness to an appallingly arrogant attitude, that Google is liable, but only for 35% of the failure!

Shane on you google/Fitbit.

having exactly the same issues and currently on a chat with support.  device keeps freezing and becoming unresponsive - never had this in 16 months of ownership.

support have suggested...

1. cleaning the contacts on the device - not the issue as the device is currently at 100% but then froze (again)

2. changing the clock face - started this and then it froze yet again

support have concluded that there is nothing else they can try but the will do a standard warranty replacement (purchased april 23).  However, I need to send my device back first before they will ship a replacement and so could be without for 10+ days

Maybe after 9-10 years of the fitbit ecosystem it is time to move.  If i wanted a device to last for 15 months then I would by a cheap device from amazon rather than a premium brand

I was given the same options.  I'm interested in the timing. My charge 5 was purchased from Amazon May 2023. I guess there's a chance mine came from the same batch as yours? Equally being at 15 months, could there be an institutionalised intent to burn the product just after the warranty runs out? I wonder if anyone has a charge 5 in the same age group with a similar experience?

How can an organization accept just 35% liability and not see the effect on customer loyalty?
