Charge 5 silent smart alarms randomly not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hey there,

pretty happy in general with my Charge 5 but having big issues with a most basic feature: Alarms!

They randomly stop working for me, which also resulted coming late to an appointment. The only fix to that is deleting all alarms, restarting the device and adding them again. But I guess that should not be considered as a solution to the problem.

Obviously alarms are pretty important, especially for busy people. Any recommendations what to do? I completely lost trust in the feature. To make sure there won’t be a basic help center reply 😉:

* Yes I checked the vibration motors

* Yes I know they turn of automatically after a while, yet I pretty much wake up immediately by the alarm. Plus sometimes I was awake already but not moving at all and the alarm didn’t got off (well sometimes randomly it did even in that scenario)

* As described I restarted the device but the problem occurred again

Pretty frustrating tbh because the silent alarm per se is an awesome feature with the wife and a newborn in the same room.

That’s what I meant with „please no basic help center reply“…

I checked everything beforehand. For me it seems to be software related. I was also trapped in an endless snooze loop last week. If you use Google you see that this issue was also very common on Charge 3 & 4. So I am wondering if this was fixed in the past? For me it’s a bit weird that the Charge 5 e.g. is really accurate in automatic workout detection but fails at basics like the alarm.

Any other tipps apart from restart and stand help center stuff? Is there any way to send debug logs or anything from the device or the app?

Bonjour,

I had this this morning and have had a it few times where my back up alarm on my phone has woken me up.  My fitbit still displays that the alarms are set to go off at 0500 and 0502 but they haven't. When the alarms do go off it always then shows the next set alarm.  I have to restart the device to move the old alarms that didn't go off off the screen.

The same issue happened to me this morning for the first time.  The vibrating alarm simply did not go off, and trying it later for other times did not work, either. In addition, my household has two different Charge 5 users and BOTH Charge 5 alarms did not function as of this morning.  Was there a recent software update where Fitbit accidentally messed up the alarm functionality and now needs to go back and fix it?

It wouldn't surprise me as something broke the skin temperature reading so nothing showed in the app for 3 days and as of this morning the alarm didn't work and there is now no data in the spo2 area of Health Metrics.

Same thing here. I set the alarm over and over. It says alarm set, but when I look at it later it’s not set, and it never goes off. I’ve tried the restart, reset, all the usual stuff. It’s driving me crazy!! This is one of the main reasons I bought this thing when my Apple Watch died…to save some money and still have the silent alarm. But it’s useless.

Thanks for bringing this up. I’ve had my charge 5 for only a few months and the alarms just randomly won’t work. The main reason switched from Apple Watch is so I can have long battery life and track sleep-which INCLUDES a functioning alarm! So frustrating that even when I reset it it just won’t work. And it’s completely random when it happens. I really hope I didn’t waste money switching to Fitbit.
