Charge 5 steps and sleep score inaccurate

Good day. So, I recently replaced my fitbit charge 4 for no other reason than a cracked screen.

So I upgraded to the charge 5. Generally upgrade means improved.

  • So first off, I had an insanely difficult time sleeping and yet fitbit logged a fair score at 8h20m which is about as inaccurate as can get. Naturally I wasn't laying dead still throughout the night and was up several times. The watch is already set to sensitive and not on normal mode for sleep.
  • Then there's the distance and steps dilemma which is equally frustrating. It is simply inaccurate. It overcounts and measures distance inaccurately.

The fitbit charge 4 wasn't perfect, but I feel like it did a better job in both fields mentioned above with auto tracking sleep and exercise. With no means to repair a cracked screen, I'm stuck with the uprgaded charge 5... That, or to buy a new device that will do a better job.

Lastly, I really appreciate the colour screen. Don't get me wrong. It's lovely. One recommendation would be to enable the user to tweak colour preference for the clock face as I really like some designs but not the colour. This would be a nice to have, but obviously more important issues need to be adressed first.

All the firmware is up to date.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @SunsetRunner.

Thank you for letting us know that your Fitbit Charge 5 is not tracking your data correctly and thanks for trying to resolve it before contacting us.

If you haven't done so, please restart your Tracker by following these steps

To try to resolve the issue with your overcounted steps, please visit this article, open the menu "What can I do if my step count seems inaccurate?" and follow the instructions.

In addition, you can change your stride length by following the instructions in this site in the menu "Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?".

There is a feature suggestion called "Charge 5 Customize clock faces colors". You are welcome to vote it and if there is any update, it should be communicated as soon as possible.

Hope this helps.
