Charge 5 stop working after swimming

As a result of an accident I suffered from a brain injury I have to cope with physical as well as psycholgical deficiencies. My doctors suggested that I get a watch which can undertake tracking. I opted for the Fitbit 5 because of the benefits it offered. This was to allow me and my doctors to track my sleep, whether I was unknowingly walking in my sleep, my timing in undertaking tasks and swimming, since I have an injured knee. My first Fitbit5 failed due to water damage. I went swimming in the ocean, and yes, I did activate the waterlock. Fitbit issued a replacement. I did confirm with support that I would not get the same issue. Well, needless to say, the second died in the same circumstance. Yet another replacement was issued. And yes, that died in the very same circumstance. Please note that due to my first experience I was super cautious and checked that my waterlock was activated before entering the ocean. I was offered a 50% discount. Initially I was so upset that this happened yet again that I insisted on a replacement. Loads of excuses. They no longer ship to my territory since I am outside of the US, to, after many, many emails and chats, I was told that the warrantee only applied to the initial watch ant not to the replacement. I have opted not to take the 50% discount and will spend my money on a reliable tracking watch. We all know the saying, "You can't continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results". My suggestion to Fitbit is to effectively correct the swimming issue, not include the swimming as a feature or discontinue or recall the watch. My further recommendation is that Fitbit concentrate on selling watches which have been extensively tested so as to achieve not only a pretty watch but one that meets the advertized specifications.

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply.  I was offered 35% discount but as prices have suddenly gone up since last week its more like 15%.  If I knew it wasn't water resistant I would not have gone swimming with it.  Very disappointing.
