My Charge 5 stopped displaying texts and stopped auto recognizing my runs.  The issue started about two weeks ago.  I have an iPhone 13.  I've gone through the basic troubleshooting items I have seen.

Hi, thank you for sharing that you've been having these issues with your Charge 5, @scassil

Before considering other options, could you please provide a few more details? Let me know if you mean that you're not receiving text notifications or if you're not able to see anything due to an unresponsive screen. If possible, let me know what are the steps that you already tried as well.

In the meantime, and regarding the problem with the device not recording your activities, please keep in mind that your will device will recognize and record high-movement activities at least 15 minutes long. If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've completed a three pulse restart procedure:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

I'll be around.

Thanks for the reply. My charge 5 display works fine, but the charge 5 has
stopped auto-recognizing my runs. It has also stopped displaying incoming
text messages.

I've pressed the button on the usb cable per your instructions.

I've turned bluetooth on my iphone off and back on. I've removed the
device from my iphone, then added it back. I've powered my phone off and
then back on.

What else can I try?

Are other exercises automatically recognized?

I have found that sometimes settings get changed by the "Fitbit ghosts". I would check all your settings and make sure that runs are part of the automatically recognized exercises. If runs are set, maybe turn off auto-recognition, and then turn it back on.

@scassil Thank you for sharing this information.

Keep in mind that Fitbit devices automatically recognize and record high-movement activities that are at least 15 minutes long, but it's possible to adjust the time required to have these activities tracked automatically on the Fitbit app by going to your Dashboard > Exercise tile > Tap on the Gear icon at the top right corner and adjust the time for each activity (like Running). Make sure your activity matches the time required to be recognized automatically.

In addition, and regarding the text notifications, make sure to follow all the steps listed in this article. You can also check all the compatibility requirements here. Keep in mind that you won’t see notifications on your Fitbit device if you turned on the Do Not disturb Icon or Sleep Mode.

I'll be around.

My Charge 5 stopped displaying text messages from my i12 phone a couple weeks ago.

After trying all the tips to fix it with no success, I stumbled onto a U-tube video that fixed the problem.  Apparently, I must have bumped the Fitbit screen in just the right combinations to enter it into "Do Not Disturb" (DND) mode.

By swiping the screen down, I was able to find the selection to turn off DND mode.
