Charge 5 stopped receiving notifications after upgrading my phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I was using Samsung messages and my fitbit worked fine notifying me of text messages and having the option of simple quick replies.  Unfortunately, I switched to Google messages thinking I would have more (and/or) better features and instead, I stopped receiving messages (and call notifications) on my fitbit!!

I did see a response from tech support outline step-by-step instructions for updating the fitbit app as well as restarting my Charge 5, but to no avail.

Any other suggestions?

Also don't like that I can't delete specific text messages like I could on Samsung messages....it's all or nothing....don't appreciate that feature

Would really appreciate some assistance.

Hi there, @Smontini1024. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 stopped receiving notifications after upgrading your phone. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As a first approach, I'd suggest making sure that your Charge 5 is no longer connected to your old mobile device as this might be preventing your Fitbit device to receive notifications from your new phone. With that being said, please follow the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your old phone's Bluetooth and also from the new phone.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • Set up notifications on your Charge 5 again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Regarding the inconvenience about deleting notifications:

  • To delete 1 notification, tap the notification > swipe up and tap Clear.
  • To delete all notifications at once, swipe up until you reach the end of your notifications and tap Clear All.
  • If you clear a notification from your device, the notification is removed from your phone's notification center. If you clear a notification from your phone, the notification is removed from your device.

Thank you for your immediate response.

I have already done everything you've described and it still doesn't work.
In addition, I did not upgrade my phone, all I did was change my messages
app from Samsung messages to Google messages.

@Smontini1024 Thanks for getting back and clarifying your issue.

Did you make sure that the permissions and mobile device settings are set correctly? If you haven't done so yet, try the steps below:

  1. On your mobile device: Go to your phone's settings
  2. Click on Apps > Fitbit
  3. Click on Permissions and make sure everything is set to ON (Contacts, Phone, SMS, Storage, Location)
  4. Go back a page and click on Notifications and make sure Allow notifications are set to ON and On lock screen is set to Show content
