Hi, @bigred47 , do you still have your old phone?  If it is around and charged your old phone’s Bluetooth may be “capturing” your Fitbit.  Fitbits can only connect with one device at a time.  If your old phone is around and charged you will need to turn off its Bluetooth when you are trying to sync it with your new phone.

If that is not your issue, you may find it helpful to carefully work through the steps in this help article for troubleshooting a Fitbit that won’t sync.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

Hi there, @bigred47. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 won't sync after switching phones. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

I agree with @Julia_G's tips and recommendations. If your Charge 5 is still connected to your old phone, this might be causing the connectivity issues with the new phone. With that being said, I'd recommend trying the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your old phone's Bluetooth and also from the new phone.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.
