Charge 5 stopped working after 1.5 years

I had both the Charger 4 and 5, and they both stopped working within 1.5 years. They were great while they lasted, but the short lifespan is disappointing. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying a Fitbit again.

Hi there, @befreenn. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 4 and Charge 5 stopped working. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

To better assist you, would you mind giving me more details of the issue? Is your Charge 5 not charging, not syncing? May I know if you've tried some troubleshooting steps so far?

Please note that our products are indeed designed and made to last (this goes for each product component) however, there is not an infallible way to ensure that no issues will be present in the long run. Because of this, our Warranty Policy is set into providing as much coverage as we can. For more information about our warranty, see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty

I understand completely. Mine is on its last legs right now. Sleep data disappears at noon everyday and the battery only charges to 75% and jumps to 100%. Only to return to 75% 2 minutes after taking it off the charger. It never had any different faces added to the watch. The Ionic watch they recalled had well over 100 faces. The charge 5 was a downgrade from my first Fitbit and probably my last Fitbit.

Hi there, @Tealrdr. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post. I understand where your concern is coming from. I'm here to help you!

There are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. As per the description of your post, it could be a sign the contacts need cleaning. Confirm that you've tried all tips and recommendations provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Please make sure your Versa 4 is receiving good power source, please find below some tips to best charge Fitbit devices:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable or your base station can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

It can take more than 10-15 mins to go from 99% to 100%. Personally, I never tend to charge my electronic devices to 100%, I've learned that the best way I can preserve the battery life is when I charge them to 80%. I charge them when the battery is at 20% then wait until it's at 80%.

Regarding your sleep data, may I know if your Charge 5 is syncing properly throughout the day? Any other data that you're missing? For more information, see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Forgot to mention that the watch will just shut off sometimes and then I
have to wait until I'm back home and can put it on the charger to turn the
thing back on. This has happened at least 4 times in the past week. The
watch syncs just fine throughout the day. It's just a piece of junk that
has very few applications or watch faces. This is my second Fitbit in only
3 years. The Ionic was great the charge 5, not so much. Garmin will be my
next purchase because at least they have applications and can actually get
weather and tell you how many feet in elevation you've hiked up a hill,
just like the Ionic you recalled.
