Hi there, @Mamz911. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 has stopped working. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

@Mamz911 Thanks for getting back. Since all the steps you tried didn't work, you have a Charge 5 and report it's not working after getting wet, I need additional information from you that would best be shared privately. I’m sharing a link to a form for you to fill out so we can look into this further.

This form is only meant for you to use, so let me know once you’re done. Click here to get access to it.

Hi Maria,

Not sure I need to start a new topic, but I'm having the same problem Mamz was having. Went swimming in an indoor pool and only submerged a few feet when the display went black. It now is non responsive and could see condensation in the back casing. Tried all the anove mentioned steps, but it is still not responsive and also not syncing to the app.

Not sure I'm eligible to still receive any support as I bought the original Charge 5 in 2022. Though I only received this current device in may 2023 after my previous one became unuseable after an update (battery drained almost instantly).

I came here to write the exact same post. Bought my Charge 5 in 2022, went swimming (more like floating) today in an outdoor pool for maybe 20 minutes, and since then the device display is blank. It is still charging and recording steps properly per the app, and buzzes when I get a text on my phone, but no display. I have tried all plug resets per the help screen with no success (not the on-screen reset because obviously I cannot access the screen). Will create a new post or help ticket, but posting here to show how many people are having the same issue.
