My Charge 5 went black after a short shallow swim today. Bought it in November last year. Reclammation?

Hello there, @Manne45. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 stopped working after getting wet. Thanks for letting me know when you purchased your Fitbit device. I'll do my best to get you back on track!
If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.
If you've done the above but to no avail, may I know if your Charge 5 vibrated during the restart process? If it didn't, I'd recommend trying the steps below:
If you have inquires about your warranty, please see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty
Hope this helps.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

My charge 5 stop working just after 1 year. It's battery completely out of order. This device is works only one year. After that you have to keep it aside forever.

Same with mine, went for a (indoor) swim on Monday and the display turned black after that.
Sensors seems to work, app displays heartrate etc.
I already opened a ticket as it seems this is a pretty common problem.
The standard procedure (sync, restart, changing clock face) did not work and it seems also this is pretty common.
Bought it from fitbit directly in january '23.
I guess you should do the same and hope to get a replacement that will most propably fail again after a while 😞 At least chances seem pretty high according to other customers experiences.
Maybe it might be a good idea to not use it for swimming after the waranty period.

I guess thats the fitbit strategy. They know that the devices have hardware and software issues but still they don't want to afford to compensate the users for this.
What they don't consider is that this will not only have a massive negative effect on Fitbit's reputation, it will also affact the reputaton of Google.
I'm lucky, I should receive a replacement. I just can't proceed as they seem to have run out of saleforce licence (error License+Limit+Exceeded). Not saying they have so many claims that they event don't have the licences for their sales software to cope with them 😉
BTW Fitbit
Apart from warranty - It's ecological irresponsible to sell devices that break so fast! Please take responsibility for it and let users know if you adressed this issue with the new generation.

Yes I agree. I will not neither purchase any Fitbit device in future nor recommend anyone to go for it. It was my big mistake that I purchased such an expensive Fitbit device like Charge 5.
