Charge 5 stopped working yesterday 7/5/24

It seems like I’m not the only one so adding my post as well. My charge 5 cycled vibrations and showing the Fitbit logo on screen several times while I was wearing it and then went black and has not done anything since. I’ve tried all the trouble shooting tips given and no success. Device is only a little over a year old. Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Mine did same thing 8 July 2024 and also just over year old.

Love my fitbit and missing it's vibrations for my steps and activities and time.

It’s such a shame that even caring for a device doesn’t ensure its longevity.

Mine is competely unresponsive as well. I’ve worked with support through two rounds of troubleshooting with no success. If the device can’t connect to the app, it’s impossible to do anything or bring it back I’m afraid.

Hello,

Mine did the same thing about 4 days ago, had about 2 years. Phone support, out of warranty so they sent me a %50 off coupon for US ONLY.... I live in Canada and phoned the Canada number. Had a Fitbit  3 that did the same thing but they replaced for free (even though outside warranty). I would say cheap products if only last 2 years. Will not recommend to anyone to buy

That's the point, I rather spend $40 on a disposable one then $200+ on a
Fitbit.

Will defiantly NOT be buying another Fitbit product. Also other than the forums there is no place to put product reviews that I can find. Did put a couple of notes on their Facebook page but funny enough no response to the negative stuff i said.

I gave up and bought a Samsung Fit 3. Happy with it so far. The app is fine, not as good for overview stats as Fitbit though. For the price, I'm happy. Previously usec Mi Band 8 and i prefer the Samsung. Both were bought as cheap options whilst waiting for a response from Fitbit. Gave the Mi Band to my mum and still going strong 😕

Agree - device has been acting "off" for over a week.  I recently charged it again and the face went black today; tried several trouble shooting options and am annoyed nothing is working.  Device is a little over a year old.  Seems to be a pattern of this happening within this community forum - hope to hear a resolution soon!

The best “resolution” Fitbit had for me was a 50% off coupon. If anyone wants it, let me know. I’ll be wearing a Garmin again. Much more reliable and better quality!

I have the same issue that began 7/5/24.  I tried all the recommended fixes to no avail.  I start each day with a full charge and by evening it seems to always have 4% battery.  Just now it charged to 99% in 25 minutes.  Now, 10 minutes later, it is at 59%.  Is my battery at end-of-life or is it an update issue?  If the problem is Firmware version: 57.20001.188.58, can it be rolled back to a previous version?

Mine seems to be working, other than I can not see the screen regardless what I do. It holds a charge just fine. I did put it back on the charger, but nothing happened. I will attempt to give them a call, but from the comments I see here, I only expect them to offer me a discount to buy another.

You could leave a review for Fitbit’s Charge 5 page on Amazon, that’s probably their biggest single marketplace.
That’s what I’ve done, I’ll also be leaving a general warning on the Charge 6 page there too if Fitbit Support doesn’t get their act together soon.

@Observatory

Firmware version 57.20001.194.91 appears to be the troublesome update, but my Charge 5 is faulty and running the same version as yours so the version number is not the sole cause of Charge 5 problems.
Since your battery charges to 100% so quickly I’d guess it’s either a dead battery or a battery management issue rather than excessive drain. (Mine takes a couple of hours to charge yet only lasts an hour before dying which points to excessive drain.)
I don’t know whether the charging is managed internally or by the charging cable, if you know someone who’ll let you borrow their cable that might give you more information.
