Charge 5 stuck at "Download the Fitbit mobile app."

I've gone through "ALL" of the forum entries for this, and the device is only a month old.

 

At this point I'm pretty sure this device is malfunctioning.

 

I've done the power off phone, power on.

I've done the Bluetooth off/on.

I've done the airplane mode off/on.

I've done the charge 5 reset via USB cable button.

The charge 5 is at 100% charge for all of these troubleshooting steps.

Samsung Galaxy A23, 5G.

 

Attempting to "fix" the connection from the app fails continuously.

The charge 5 is unresponsive to any of the controls except for the USB cable button.

Android 13.

Ugh, no answer, running Android 13, which I see is currently a no go for the Charge 5.

 

ETA for fix?

Using Fitbit app v3.76.
