Charge 5 stuck on Fitbit logo and battery drains

Charge 5 replaced under warranty a little over a year ago.
Issue now: the fitbit logo comes on suddenly and stays on until battery is drained. Hook up to charger and once it charges, it's fine, but within a day it goes back to the logo routine. If I put it on charger, attempt to reset before the battery is drained, the fitbit logo remains.
Is there anything that can be done? Or is it DOA?
Is there a fitbit that doesn't have, or has less, problems? Or is this a "buy every couple years" device if I want one?
Thanks.

Hello there, @icecreammom. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issues Charge 5 and trying to troubleshoot them.

Regarding the Fitbit logo, please note the issue you're having comes from performing a factory reset without first unpairing your Fitbit device from your Fitbit account and phone's Bluetooth settings. With that being said, I suggest following the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and also make sure it's no longer connect to your Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.

If you can't get started with your Charge 5, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

If you continue having difficulties to update your Fitbit device, see Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

About the battery, p
lease make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general, as this has been generally useful for other users. In addition, please complete a three pulse restart following the steps listed here below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end if the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

The battery can last up to 7 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but the battery shouldn't be draining only after a few hours.

Good afternoon,

I have the same problem for several days now. However, unfortunately my fitbit also does not charge anymore. It does not reach more than 1% and the one time it does charge further, it is empty within minutes. As a result I cannot access the settings on the device either…

do you have another suggestion to get it running again? I have it for just over one year.

Thank you for your reply.
In the couple of weeks I've had this issue, I did scan these forums and this looks like something I did when the problem first appeared. The only factory reset that was done was after this problem appeared.
I have set up this charge 5 with a different account on a different device, as I set up a new fitbit on my current device (that I purchased yesterday, that had been mislabeled at Target when I was perusing different products, which they generously offered to me at the much lower, mislabeled price, that I couldn't pass up.)
Anyhow, we'll try again--but this is an issue that I have been working on for a few weeks. I am assuming that setting up with a new account on a new device would be the same as taking the steps you referenced. I'll be wearing both for awhile to see if the problem is resolved.
