Charge 5 stuck on a red X and the Fitbit logo

My Charge 5 showed a giant X with a red circle around it that would not turn off. Once I recharged it, I have a non-stop blinking fit bit logo.

I've have tried resetting it, and I followed the steps below recommended by FitBit on another post... nothing is working.

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and also make sure it's no longer connect to your Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.

Is there any way to get it to stop blinking and connect to my phone?

Hi there, @Nat2530. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still unresponsive. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

May I know if your Charge 5 is vibrating whenever you connect it to the charger? It sounds to me that your Fitbit device might have run out of battery after all the troubleshooting steps you tried.

Please note that sometimes a Fitbit doesn’t seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely). I'd recommend putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working.  Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.

When it has had two hours, try restarting your Charge 5. I would recommend trying this maybe twice in a row if a first try doesn’t work.

If the above doesn't work, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

If you manage to bring back your Charge 5 to life, please try setting it up once again.
