Charge 5 stuck on a red X

I’ve read the comments on this topic

I am also on Fitbit charge 5 #3

i lost a few hours today and now there is this x on screen. I’ve done 3x pulse reset on charging cable, I do firmly believe there is a huge fault in the fit bit design. My charge 4 was also a waste of time.
might just have to give up and buy an apple.
time consuming to fix / replace.

My Charge 5 just started doing this. I tried everything, including unpairing it from my phone. Now it doesn’t show up on Bluetooth at all! There was a app update a couple of days ago, I have read other posts about this issue starting after updates, so I have to wonder if it’s a software problem.

It first started with it not holding a charge. The app didn’t want to find it and then it died far too quickly. It seemed to take forever to charge, and then was suddenly showing 100%. That was yesterday. Now today it died again… or maybe the display stopped working, it would be hard to tell. I put it on the charger and it would vibrate, but there was no display. I tried the three button push thing, until eventually it stopped buzzing completely. Then it turned to the red circle with the white X. Then I unpaired it and now it’s like it doesn’t even exist. One post mentioned letting it drain completely, I might try that and see what happens. It doesn’t seem like there is any point in attaching it to the charger, since there is no indication that it’s even connected.

No I’ve tried to reset with charge cable x3 pulses.

it can’t be detected by my phone and is having trouble syncing

UPDATE: Device finally stopped showing the X, and I managed to get it to charge. But it is still draining way too quickly. It used to need charging maybe once a week, now it’s every day or two. I haven’t changed anything to make it drain faster.

Hello @SongMom

When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery loss, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I saw a rapid drop in battery, I restarted my Charge 5 and put it on the charger until it was back to 100%, often doing this multiple times in a day. Eventually, this process got my device "unstuck" and the battery went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work for you, it might be worth a try.
