Charge 5 stuck on a red circle with a white "X"

My Fitbit stopped syncing yesterday and is now stuck on the red circle white cross. I've tried the 4 points from other posts (including reset from the charger and changing the clock face) but nothing worked.

Do I have to throw away my Fitbit or is there a fix?

Hi there, @FExx. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still stuck on a red circle with a white X. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

To better assist you, please confirm if you've tried the following steps:

  • From the Today tab, tap the devices icon >  your device > Sync Now.
  • If Sync Now doesn’t show an update banner, to tap the devices icon > their device > Gallery. The app should show a popup to install the missing apps and recover the device.
  • If the firmware update banner doesn't show, please press and hold the side button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, then release the button. For more information please visit How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Hi, @FExx if the suggestions provided don’t work I would suggest letting the battery on your Fitbit die completely and then try the sync now/ reset again and also check for an update.  The icon you are seeing indicates either an update hitch/failure or a sync issue.

Thank you for responding Julia. It's good to know someone actually reads these posts. I left the Fitbit alone so the battery would drain and then plugged it and reset it. They're want an update available. It eventually charged overnight  and showed 100% but then died again with a black screen after a few hours. I  tried this twice. It has not recharged again after I left it overnight and the reset fails to revive it and I don't see the red X anymore. Is there any hope for my Fitbit or has the battery failed or something else?

Thanks
