I have an “X” in a red circle on the screen, does anyone know what this indicates.  Seems to be frozen!!

Exactly my experience.  I got the email.  The option was buy a new one because mine is 1.5 years old and out of warranty.  Terrible is right.

Tried this, didn’t work. When I contacted Fitbit I got an email saying I can’t get a refund repair because I’m not in Europe. I bought the Fitbit in Europe in November 2021. Warranty should be for 2 years no matter where I live. Not happy

did you get reply from company, i have same problem.

Nothing. They said because I don't live in Europe there's no warranty, even though I bought it in Vienna less than 2 years ago.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

I plugged it into a computer for 30 minutes  using a USB cord. I then got a red circle with an x in the middle. Then I plugged it into a wall charger and pushed the small button 3 times ( I felt it vibrate after each push of the button) and it reset. I got a Fitbit logo for a couple of seconds then it changed to the charging screen. I think the watch battery was drained because it was at 3%. It then charged normally.

The red x goes, is replaced by fitbit logo which only flashes for a second,
then screen is blank 😞

My Fitbit Charge 5 has been working perfectly until I was prompted to install the latest firmware update. During the update process, my screen too had the infamous white X inside a red circle. I tried all the suggested methods to reset/restart the device but to no avail. Occasionally the Fitbit logo will appear by flashing on and off, then after a while it goes back to the white X inside the red circle. WTF. I did contact Customer Support and a replacement is on the way. I feel for those who did not get a replacement as this is caused 100% by Fitbit, not the user. Without the firmware update, it works perfectly. They should at least caution you not to update if you don't want the new features and explain the risks associated with updating. Had I known that, I would not have tried updating it. This is not good at all. But at least for me a solution was found with a replacement.

I put my Charge 5 back in its box and went back to my Charge 4.

Did not work and now my Fitbit won’t be found via Bluetooth. Worst advice.

Same for me! I’m very disappointed with their customer service post bought out by Google and can’t believe this an issue from them that they won’t solve for us. Makes me now want to have a Fitbit now.

----------

I tried that! I did get my charging screen very briefly but mine was at 88%. Glad it worked for you!

No, it hasn't worked. Very disappointing Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Same here, what the heck is going on?  My fitbit charge 5 is ~2 years old as well, and I now have the red X.  Fitbits seem to be built horribly.

Google is not a great customer service company, just the opposite.

I agree! I’m not happy with their customer support solution as I have been a faithful Fitbit user since 2016 and upgraded to a new model last year.

None of those steps worked.

My charge 5 suddenly stopped working. The face occasionally flashes a logo and the app displays a red exclamation mark. It was fully charged and synched minutes earlier.  I tried the usual steps, but it is still unresponsive. I suspect a faulty firmware update, but don't know how to correct it.
