Charge 5 stuck on a red "X"

I became aware of the issue when I tried to sync with the device which I had been wearing overnight as I have since taking possession of it in November 2022. I could not get any device screen activity until I put it on the charger. It first showed the fitbit logo, then switched over to show a red-backed, white cross in a white circle. A red led shone  brightly from the back of the watch. Can it be fixed? jimsci

Update: Correction..."a black-backed, white cross in a red circle"  jimsci 😐

Hi there, @Jimsci. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 screen became unresponsive. I understand where your concern is coming from, I'll do my best to help you with this!

There are some general recommendations that are usually helpful with any type of display issues. If you haven't done so already, please try the steps listed here below that have been useful for other users:

  1. Complete the 3 pulse restart procedure method using the charging cable.
  2. Please sync your device in the Fitbit app by tapping your profile picture > Charge 5 > Sync Now.
  3. If you  can't sync, please try tapping on your profile picture > Charge 5 > Tile to see if the firmware banner appears (since a new firmware version has been released for the Charge 5).
  4. If it's still unresponsive, please try changing the clock face as well and check if you're able to see anything on the display.

Let me know it goes.

No joy with any of the suggested restarts…device is up-to-date, but won’t budge from white cross on black background in a white circle.

Hi Marre

I tried your suggestions; none worked and posted to you that was the case on Nov 30. I am awaiting your response. If you conclude that the charge 5 is beyond repair, what do you propose about replacing it given that it is under warranty?

Regards

Jim
