Charge 5 unresponsive after early-hours (UK) update again

Coming back to document the fourth annual firmware downing of my Fitbit (now Charge 5) in the early hours. Restarts attempted etc etc, but it can't boot up. At this point I just need Fitbit to send me a new one every spring.

went through the support options with Fitbit help, now they're sending me a new one. Email states it may take 4-5 days, so I'm looking at Garmins...
