Charge 5 vibrates but screen won't respond

Hello all,

Yesterday, my fitbit 5 screen turned black. I tried to reset it by plugging it in and pressing 3 times the button on the charger. This did not work. He fitbit started to vibrate very heavily for 20 second or so.

The next day, I tried again the hard reset. Every time I press the button on the charger, the fitbit vibrates, but it does not get reset.

Does anyone know what is going on or how I can solve this?

I am having the exact same issue.  It started yesterday.  It is continuously blinking in that dot diagram it shows when it starts to reboot.  Could a bad software update have gone out?

Same here. I called the Fitbit helpdesk and they told me to try a hard reset. That didn't work. After that I had to try to select an other clock lay-out / theme. That also didn't work. Fortunately my Fitbit was still under 2 years warrenty so they will send a new one.

Same thing for me. I'm glad you pointed out there's a 2 year warranty. I
called, nothing worked, so now I'm pursuing a replacement.

It seems mighty strange that all of our Fitbits stopped working on the same
day.

Right before I rebooted, it showed the wrong time....it was about 4-5 hours
ahead.

Indeed very strange, especially with exactly the same problem.

I am in exactly the same boat. Just does not show the screen then it randomly does. It had to do with software or firmware because the watch still syncs and works other than being a totally black screen.

This has happened to me as well. It started on Sunday. I noticed my screen was not as bright and was zoomed in. Monday is stopped having a screen. I've done the hard reset and it doesn't fix it. This is frustrating!

I am having the same problem. I purchased my Charge 5 only 4 months ago at Best Buy in Canada and took out a Premier membership but am now living in Colombia. My Fitbit is totally unresponsive. Does anyone have a number to call where you can reach a real person at Fitbit?

Mine is completely dead in the sense that it is not booted up. It will not sync with my phone or do anything except show the dotted Fitbit logo.

I have been able to get a return and replacement organised via Google. I had a live chat and they agreed on this. My old watch has to be returned and inspected before they send new one however.

we get two year warranty in England however I have had my charge 5 less than a year.

there clearly is an issue with them

Me too! Mine just started yesterday. It would be great if there was a Fitbit tech who was monitoring this thread. Alas, this product and brand is deteriorating. After four Fitbits it must be time to move on.

3 weeks ago there was a firmware update.  That's when my Charge 5 acquired the White X of Death.  I've tried the hard reboot using the button on the charge cord, but no luck.  I waited 10 days for it to discharge battery before trying again.  Nope.  All I get is the White X inside a red ring, and the flasing Fitbit icon.  It's not even seen by bluetooth anymore.

My 2 year warranty expired in July, so I'm out of luck.  Either buy a new one or try something else.

This morning my Charge 5 also vibrated very heavily for about 10 seconds and then turned itself off and is completely dead. I have also tried the plug in and pressing the button on the charger but nothing - on screen, vibration or lights on the back, no response whatsoever. It had over 70% battery charge when it died. Over the last couple of weeks the heart rate / green light has stopped working every time it's been on charge and then randomly re-starts working about 24 hours later.

I read somewhere you had to put your fitbit in the fridge for 15min. I forgot to take it out and it spend the entire night in the fridge...guess what happened when I plugged it in...it is working again!!

Today the replacement arrived. Don't know if this one is new or refurbished but it's working well again, for now... Is your Fitbit still under the 2 years warrenty, use it. Contact Fitbit and ask for a new one.

That's too bad. I read the same about putting it in the freezer. Too bad this isn't working for this specific problem.

I have not got the original strap on mine as it got damaged. Im

hoping this should not effect them replacing it when I send it back.
