Charge 5 won't connect to my Samsung S23

I recently got a new phone a Samsung s23 and noticed i wasnt getting text notifications but was getting call notifications. Based on other questions in the forum, i tried restarting the phone and watch, and even disconnecting from bluetooth.

Now my tracker and phone wont re-connect to Bluetooth. My phone will say, an app is required to connect, which i have the app downloaded and open while i try to pair devices, but it still wont connect. I have also tried turning off Bluetooth and turning back on and attempting to sync but with no success.

Is there anything else i can try??

Hi there, @KierstinK. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out.

As a first approach, I'd suggest making sure that your Charge 5 is no longer connected to your old mobile device as this might be preventing your Fitbit device to receive notifications from your new phone.

With that being said, please follow the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your old phone's Bluetooth and also from the new phone.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • Set up notifications on your Charge 5 again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Thank you for your assistance!
I ended up getting it to connect after continued fiddling and prior to your
reply. I restarted both my phone and fitbit. I unpaired other phone
devices, and then found notifications within the fitbit app. Once I opened
that settings page and the messages notifications, it magically connected
on its own, after repeatedly not allowing it to pair.
Hopefully this may be helpful for other people experiencing the same
issues.
