Charge 5 won't hold a charge anymore

My Charge 5 will not charge.  On Tuesday, August 15, 2023 I noticed that my Fitbit was dead so I put it on the charger.  I went back to check on it after an hour and it said 100% charged so I put it on.  Later in the day I got a warning that my Fitbit was down to 4% battery.  I charged it again, (only took a hour to reach 100%) and put it back on.  Went dead during the night.  This repeated itself on Wednesday.  This morning, Thursday, the battery said 28%. My husband went to the Community page and searched "not holding a charge". Followed instructions to restart my Fitbit which he did.  Left the Fitbit on the charger for 3 hours.   After Synching it now says battery is at 4%.  Fitbit will not respond - totally dead.  The Fitbit Charge 5 was purchased from Costco on June 3, 2022.

Please HELP!

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Nana_Nan!

Sad to hear that you're having issues with your Charge 5. As this sometimes needs more than one attempt, I'd suggest trying to restart it once again. Before doing so you should make sure you've synced your device to not lose any data tracked so far. Also you should verify that the charging contacts on your device are clean and the charging pins on it's charging adapter are clean as well and can move flawlessly. In doubt, please have a look here:

How do I clean my Fitbit device?

Next please closely follow these instructions as timing is crucial for this procedure:

1.) Connect your Charge 5 to the charging cable which has to be connected to a reliable power source.
2.) Press the button located on the flat end of the charging cable 3 times within 8 seconds(!), holding each press for about 1 second(!).
3.) Wait around 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on your device's display.

If that really won't work for you, I'd recommend to contact Fitbit for further assistance:

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hello @Nana_Nan

When my Charge 5 battery started to rapidly lose power, I did multiple restarts and recharging over several days. Eventually, this process got my device "unstuck" and the battery went back to lasting 6-7 days. If you can't restart your Charge 5 from the Settings menu on the device, please follow the directions provided by @Talahthas .

A couple of users recently posted that disabling SpO2 helped reduce battery drain. One of the users also disabled/un-installed ECG & EDA which further helped reduce battery drain.

Hopefully, one of these tips will work for you.
