Charge 5 won't hold a charge anymore

My charge 5 - purchased 1/22/2023 - 13 months ago can't hold a charge anymore. It went from 74% yesterday evening to 0 during the night. Charged to 45% this morning and then dead in an hour. Charged to 95% this afternoon then down to 9% after 1 hour. It's been reset and the firmware is up to date. What's going on?

I’m having the same problem. No idea what’s going on.  Purchased mine just a few months before you.  I’ve tried resetting after a full charge but so far no effect.  It just runs down.

Don't remember when I bought, I think a year ago.  Battery drain in an hour or 2 if I am lucky

Huh. Seems like they die as soon as they are out of warranty

I was reading on another board.  This seems to be an issue from the firmware update.  You can check it out with following link.

I know from a few years ago, but they didn't fix the issue.

That's a nice faucet, but I'm unsure how that relates to my watch.

Welcome to the community forums @Ryanbikeclimb @1Savta @MarcCL.

Thank you for taking the time to share the inquiry regarding Charge 5. Sorry to know the difficulty that you are experiencing so far.

Please make sure that you've exhausted all the troubleshooting steps in this article to improve battery life in general. The Charge 5 should have a battery life of 7 days, and although battery life is affected by use or other settings and actual results may vary, it shouldn't last for only 1 or 2 days. Some of the feature that can drain the battery more rapidly are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 day when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Using an Sp82 clock face (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

If you already followed the recommendations to improve battery life, considering how some features affect it, and you still consider the battery is draining too fast, I recommend that you reach out to our Customer Support team for further assistance. The best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. My wife's Charge 5 won't hold any useable battery power subsequent to the latest firmware update. We are even struggling to sync the device as we can't keep enough charge in it. My wife has stopped using the Charge 5 replacing it with a conventional watch.

This issue has made the national news in the UK. We need Fitbit as a minimum to "step back" the firmware update as the "bugs" it was supposed to fix seem insignificant to the leaving people with NO USABLE Fitbit device.
