Charge 5 won't hold a charge anymore

I have a charge 5 that I  charged once a week. A couple days ago, I forgot to take  it off before getting in the shower.. It got wet for 5 minutes before I took it off.. Now it only holds a charge for 5 hours. I do not believe it is water resistant as I have to charge it 3 times a day 😠

Hi there, @LaRoc94. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 battery started draining after getting wet. I understand how you must be feeling. I will do my best to help you!

Please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%.  Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning). For more tips and recommendations, please see Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Regarding your concern, most Fitbit devices are water-resistant to 50 meters. They're designed to be swimproof and stand up to even the sweatiest of workouts. However, if your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.
