Charge 5 won't hold a charge anymore

My Fitbit screen suddenly went black last night.  My battery had drained very quickly.  Went through the reset steps, charged to 100% and thought it was good.  Woke up this morning and 0% charged. Charged again and the device now goes from 100% to < 20% in less than 2 hours.

This is my second Fitbit in two years.  On the first one, the HR monitor stopped working.  Fitbit replaced it since it was still under warranty.  This device was working great until last night and holding a charge for about 7 days.  I know this wasn't caused by an update, so it is just the device taking a crap.  SO disappointed.

I think this will be my last Fitbit.  I do NOT expect to have to replace an expensive device every couple years.

If there are any other troubleshooting steps besides the "reset" and making sure all the battery draining settings are as they should be, please advise!!

Hello @yogakills

When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery loss, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I saw a rapid drop in battery, I restarted my Charge 5 and put it on the charger until it was back to 100%, often doing this multiple times in a day. Eventually, this process got my device "unstuck" and the battery went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work for you, it might be worth a try.
