Charge 5 won't respond to anything

Okay so I've had 2 fitbit charge 5's. The first one died when I went swimming with it like fitbit said I should do lol. They replaced that one. This second, after about 6 months, has now randomly died. It had about 60% battery life when it died and it was the first hot day of the year where I work so I was sweating a little bit. I dont know if that had anything to do with it. The fitbit app says it last synced around the time I was ending my shift at work. Later that night I realized the watch was dead for no reason. Ive tried charging it several times, the watch will sometimes vibrate and it the logo appears like its about to start charging, but then after a few seconds it dies and does nothing except the green light on the back of it stays on solid. Ive tried pressing the button on the charging cable 3 times in 10 seconds and just holding it for 15 seconds, that does nothing for me. Fitbit says they will not warranty my watch a second time. Any ideas? I'm thinking about maybe buying another charge 5 or charge 6 but i just worry it will be a waste of money and the same thing will happen again.

Hi there, @BattleCruiser. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still unresponsive. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

It sounds to me that the battery is completely flat. With that being said,
please note that sometimes a Fitbit doesn’t seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely). I'd recommend putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working. Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.

When it has had two hours, try restarting your Charge 5. I would recommend trying this maybe twice in a row if a first try doesn’t work.

If the above doesn't work, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Hi ,

I have the same issue with you. It's suddenly off and just the logo appear in front of the screen. Battery is full charged last time I checked. I believed it was software issue. It did turn on yesterday but went back shut down again. Truly disappointed with it. No support from Fitbit and answer from them.

The battery was over 50% when the watch randomly died. Ive tried charging it multiple times several hours each. Ive already talked with fitbit about this and tried everything they said. This is not a battery issue! Its not that it won't respond to anything, it just died !!

Still no good replies here yet for my post. i also want to add that the moderator changed my subject title. It originally was "Charge 5 randomly died, solid green light" I think its crap they need to change the title's of our posts for no reason.

Thanks for the advise. I think usually people bought it because of they bought pixel phone when Google offer the coupon discount. What I really wanted is hope that Google and Fitbit can fix their sync info and data issue. I am a Google user and feel quite frustrated when this happened. You're right . I am using the Fitbit charge 5 less than 15 months.

However, I uninstall the Fitbit apps , reinstall it and seems the Fitbit charge 5 is working now. I hope it won't turn frozen again.

your problem is not like my problem. Im still waiting for some one to answer me about my post. My charge 5 had about 60% battery life when it died and it was the first hot day of the year where I work so I was sweating a little bit. Is there a way i can save my fitbit charge 5? Or should i buy a charge 6? or would that be a waste of money because the same thing will happen again.

I have read in another post that the app changed quickly from 19 to 19.1 and some started working on this new app. Can you tell me what version of the app you now have installed. I tried reinstalling it but it just installed the same version as before. Thanks

Now my Charge 5 is doing the same thing...  Yesterday it seemed to be working properly then this morning it did not collect any sleep information and is unresponsive.  I've tried the 3 button reset and the display never shows anything but I do get a 4th 'buzz' from the Fitbit as though it is starting something.  I uninstalled my Android app and reinstalled it but no changes.  The app does show it is charging though.

Am I now stuck with a Fitbrick?

Maria, This problem seems to be related to some update as many people are coming out of the woodwork with the same issue.  PLEASE help us out.  I wish there was a way to initiate a reset from the Android app...
