Recently bought the Galaxy S23 phone. Phone has all updates. Fitibit app has all updates. Customer service wasn't able to assist with this. I have ALL notifications and permissions to same already set properly. Bluetooth and device are connected. I've already tried unpairing and doing a brand new device set up and through the process again. Have already done a reset on the Charge 5. Still no texts. Customer service said they will have to send it to their "team" to try and figure it out.
UPDATE: I have no clue what I did as I did so many different things on my own and through the Fitbit support AND Verizon support, but I rebooted my phone and suddenly everything was working again!

Hi, @JujiSmurph , I have been able to fix this on my Android phone by going to the app and on the Notifications screen clicking on the 3 vertical dots top right hand side of the screen and choosing “send a test call notification”. Sometimes I have had to try this a couple of times, but it usually sorts out the problem.
Also, if you still have your old phone, make sure you remove your Charge 5 from the Bluetooth settings in your old phone, as the old phone could be “capturing” the Bluetooth pairing and preventing your new phone Fitbit app from working properly.

I also just upgraded to Samsung S23. I have a Charge 5. I've been able to get only Calendar reminders. Nothing for text or email. Julia, I don't see anywhere that I can send a test call notification. Can you clarify?

I recently updated my phone to S23+ and am having a similar problem. When a text message comes in, my Charge 5 vibrates, shows I have a new message. I swipe to read and then tells me again I have one new message and to tap to read, but that is all it does. Tapping to read does not bring up the message. 2 days ago I was able to read all messages. I have done the “Send a Test Call Notification” and I get the call. Issue is not with calls, only text messages.

@Ecditamore in the notifications area on the Fitbit app you will see top left side 3 vertical dots. Click on that and you will see “send a test call”. Does that make it clearer?
Sending a test call message should also confirm that text and calendar messages (as long as they are selected and activated will be sorted out).
@Kamakr you can only ever get part of your message. If it is more that a line or so you will still need to go to your phone to read.

Julia, I am not getting any of the message. It just tells me I have one new message. I should get at least 255 characters.

Ecditamore, The dots are on the Fitbit app on your phone. You need to go to the app, on first screen tap on the star like wheel on the upper left, on the next screen, tap on the Charge 5, on the next screen scroll down and tap on Notifications. The next screen will have 3 dots in the upper right corner. Tap on them and you should see the test call notification. Hope this helps.

Hi, @Ecditamore , yes, you will see in my post that I said “in the notifications area in the Fitbit app”

@ Ecditamore. I just figured out what was wrong and can now read my text messages on my Charge 5. I have Verizon and use their text messaging+ app and somehow had turned off my privacy setting on the app to not show a preview of received messages on the status bar and Lock Screen. I turned it back on and it fixed my issue. Not sure what text messaging app you use so this fix may not apply to you.

If you go into the Fitbit app, click on your profile icon in the upper left corner, then click on the Charge 5 in the list. Go to notifications in that list and then click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner. "Send a Test Call Notification" is listed in there. You can also select what you want to receive notifications from in there.

I haven't had that issue, but I did recently read that apparently the "update" for the Charge 5 has numerous bugs that Fitbit is 'trying to figure out'. Maybe that's one of them?

You have to tap on the message to bring up the whole thing - at least that's what I have to do on mine.

No, I haven’t been upgraded to the new version for Fitbit. The issue was with my settings on my messaging app on my phone.
