Charge 5 won't show my heart rate zones

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm unable to get readout of Custom heart-rate minutes that have been collected by my Charge 5, which is linked to a Pixel 7Pro (Android).  I'm subscribed to Fitbit Premium.

I have (apparently!) successfully set my Custom heart-rate zone on the Fitbit website: Dashboard>Settings Gear Icon>Setting>Heart Rate Zones shows "Custom" set and shows min and max rates.

But the minutes for this feature don't display anywhere I can find them on the Fitbit (not surprising), nor the Fitbit Android app, nor on the Fitbit website.   The Android app and website are reporting my heart-rate minutes correctly for the standard zones. Just not the Custom minutes.

I've reset the Fitbit and logged out and back in on the Fitbit Android app and on the website, too.   I've given this several days, but still no display of Custom heart-rate minutes.

I've searched this Fitbit community but haven't found anyone with the same problem (Custom zone set but won't display minutes).

Suggestions appreciated!

Hello @Dinopus and welcome to the Community.  The Charge 5 is designed to work with the mobile app.  The path you followed will work for an older device, like an Alta HR, but you can't change your Charge 5.  Please make the changes on your Fitbit mobile app:

  • Tap on your profile avatar in the upper left
  • Swipe up and tap on Activity & Wellness
  • Tap on Heart Settings
  • Tap on Heart Rate Zones
  • Toggle Custom Zone to On and enter your desired Upper and Lower limits

The custom zone minutes don't appear on the device.  You will see them in your exercise details.  When you use your Exercise app, your heart rate in the middle stat should say below zone, in zone, or above zone.  You don't get vibrations with this feature.

This path is still on the web dashboard because there are many of these older devices still in use.  The only stats you can get from the web dashboard that aren't on the mobile app are things like your lifetime and best achievement stats.

Thanks for the advice to set the Custom Zone on the Android app rather than the website.

I followed your instructions and found that the Custom Zone was already activated on the Android app and showed the same zone limits I had put on the website.    On that same Heart Rate Zones page of the Android app there's a graphic with green arrows showing the upper and lower limits of my Custom Zone alongside the regular zones.   So the Android app seems to know all about my Custom Zone. See screenshot below.

Using the Android app, I turned off the Custom Zone and then re-entered it as you suggested.   Though sometimes deleting and re-entering things helps, this time it didn't.

Anyway, I still fail to see any reports on Custom Zone minutes in places where the minutes for Below / Fat Burn / Cardio / Peak are reported on either the Android App or the website.

This is in spite of the Android app saying in the place where you define the Custom Zone: "This zone will appear next to the other three (Fat Burn, Cardio and Peak) throughout the app and on your Fitbit."

Best,

Jack
