Hi. Had my Charge 5 for three weeks now and found that overnight my C5 has disconnected. I connect again and it is OK for the day but next morning it is disconnected again. Anyone have a solution?
thanks

Hi there, @HawkM. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Charge 5.

If you haven't done so yet, please try the following:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.
  • Once your Charge 5 is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Hi, @HawkM, May I suggest you check the settings in the Fitbit app on your phone? I'm assuming you have an Android phone, if you have an iPhone you need to reach similar options. Settings>apps>Fitbit>permission, allow all>storage & cache, clear cache>mobile data & WiFi, allow background data & unrestricted data usage>Battery usage, Unrestricted>unused app settings, disable "pause app activity if unused". This last is because some phones treat the Fitbit app as non-essential & we need it to run constantly in the background>sync your app.

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Hi. I do have an iPhone, I have tried to understand what steps you are asking me to make but this is unclear. The Background App Refresh is on. Please explain more clearly what steps you would like me to take

Hi, @HawkM, thanks for your feedback, I'm not familiar with iPhones, I only use Android. Maybe another community member familiar with Apple phones will drop by. In the meantime, you might make progress by posting on this board  iOS App - Fitbit Community

I'm sorry I can't offer more info relating to your phone app but I think you should see the drift of the issues you need to check.

Cheers

Hi, @HawkM, I do not think you have a fault with your "Charge 5" but a problem with your Apple phone Bluetooth settings. You did not mention which model of iPhone you have, you need Apple iOS 15 and higher, Fitbit Supported Devices explains. If your phone is compatible I can only suggest you talk to a family member or local Apple store so you can check the Fitbit app settings as I recommended earlier.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

I have owned a C3 for around 3 years without any connectivity issues. I have an IPhone 13 running iOS 16.5 and have updated the Fitbit app to the latest version

Your advice for Android users was as follows

Settings>apps>Fitbit>permission, allow all>storage & cache, clear cache>mobile data & WiFi, allow background data & unrestricted data usage>Battery usage, Unrestricted>unused app settings, disable "pause app activity if unused".

This may mean something to Android users but is not comparable with IPhone. When I asked for guidance for IPhone your response was “you should see the drift of the issues you need to check” surely someone at Fitbit Corp can offer advice for IPhone users?

So putting all that aside. Four weeks ago I had a Charge 3 connected to my IPhone 13 running iOS 16.5 without issue

I now have a Charge 5 connected (most of the time) to the same IPhone that disconnects overnight. Once connected it remains connected and Syncs all through the day until the following morning when reviewing my Bluetooth reports the C5 is disconnected, no other device connected has disconnected therefor it relates specifically to the C5 so with the greatest respect it is faulty and I would like to know what Fitbit Corp are going to do to resolve this issue

Thank you

Hi, @HawkM, may I point out that I'm not "Fitbit" but a volunteer, click the grey medallion under my icon for more detail. I apologise for my lack of knowledge about Apple products, I've never owned an iPhone.

Cheers
