"I can't swipe screens left or right, only up and down. I've tried restarting but it didn't work. Now I can't access the exercise mode or set alarms. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?"

Hi, @JeffHsu, welcome to the community, try restarting your Charge 5, this Video demonstrates the process, if you can't access the restart icon on your Charge 5 the second part of the video shows you how to use the button on the cable. You can also try changing the clock face in the Fitbit app on your phone.
Please post here again & let us know how you get on.
Cheers.

Hello
I have already tried rebooting, but it didn't work at all. Additionally, even though I didn't tap the surface, it seems to register surface taps. I have seen similar issues mentioned here, indicating that it's not just a problem with my usage. However, I haven't found a solution, so I wanted to ask for others' experiences. I can't find a repair center in Taiwan, which is frustrating because I bought the Charge 5 just one year, and this shouldn't be happening.

Hey, I had the same problem with mine. I was sent a replacement (under warranty), but the replacement they sent did not work well. I’m in the process of sending that one back to receive yet another replacement. I tend to think the Charge 5 is now garbage. I think customer service knew this was a problem with the swiping, which is why they immediately sent me a replacement. I don’t think there is a fix for it. I’m sorry you’re having this trouble. If I receive another crummy replacement, I’m going to find a different company.

I'm saddened to hear about this feedback from consumers. Google is a reputable company, and I trust they will handle this abnormal usage situation appropriately. Otherwise, they risk losing more loyal users. I wish you a better user experience, and thank you for your feedback.

I'm having the same problem. Started happening, maybe, several days ago. Sometimes if I'm lucky I can get it to swipe left or right, but it takes a very precise touch, and sometimes I can't get it to swipe left or right at all.
I've tried restarting it with little to no effect, and I've also tried installing a different clock face from my phone, but the install button did not respond.
Edit: the clock faces I was trying to install were unavailable. When I chose a clock face that was available, I was able to change it, but it made no difference in being able to swipe.

Have rebooted still doesn't swipe, maybe they have done something behind the scenes and not notified people 😡

I’m wondering that as well. I used to be able to swipe up and down, even when I couldn’t swipe left and right. But, I can no longer do that. The heart rate monitor is now malfunctioning as well. The replacement charge 5 they sent had a bad battery life and a bad heart rate monitor. It also wouldn’t sync properly (every time it would sync, the active minutes from the clock face and the mileage would return to 0). I’ve returned the replacement, but not hopeful that another one will work better. I went back to wearing the old one, because it at least records steps properly. I am beyond frustrated with them. Their customer service is terrible.

There's been a very negative development. I'm guessing about 21 days after it lost the ability to swipe, I noticed the battery was low, quicker than it should have been. I plugged it in and charged it to 94%. About 38 hours later I noticed it was dead. The phone app said the last sync had been 2 hours earlier and it had 42% battery. When I plugged it into the charger, instead of charging it would buzz repeatedly, like it was repeatedly restarting. I left it on the charger and eventually the screen came on saying it had 10% battery. I left it on the charger until it was 100%. When I took it off the charger it started a boot loop where it continually restarts. It shows the boot screen, then it shows the watch screen, then it restarts. There's no vibration during this process. If I don't touch the watch at all, it won't show the clock face.
