Charge 5 won't sync or charge

My charge 5 would not sync this morning. I put it on the charger although it said it was at 80% but it wouldn't charge. This was almost 5 hrs ago and it's still at 80%. I've had it on the charger for 30 mins; it has not vibrated nor the typical charging thing popped up. It will show 80% and charging when I swipe it but it's obviously not charging. I've restarted it on the device but the button on the USB charging cable does nothing.

 

I've tried to contact support through chat but that isn't working either. I don't know what to do.

Hi, @Chellelynn83 , welcome to the community, you may find this article of interest Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging? - Fitbit Help Center I use rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl 70%) to clean my Fitbit's and a cotton bud to detail the gold contacts on the back of the pebble. If you do not have any, warm soapy water will sufice. Check the two little pins on the charging cable puck are evenly projecting and free (they are spring-loaded)

Thank you. It being dirty isn't a problem as the battery isn't showing it's draining either. But I did clean it to see if that was the problem; didn't help.

Hi, @Chellelynn83 were you able to confirm you are using a "Live" USB socket as suggested in the link I sent? The fact that the button on the charging cable does not function might be evidence that it has no juice. Having seen the article on "Syncing" were you able to make any progress?

Yes, the charger is fine. It charges my mom's charge 5 with no problem. I was finally able to talk to someone in chat just not through the app. I had already done everything they wanted me to do except uninstall and reinstall the app to see if that would help with syncing.

 

Since it's been over a year this charge 5 was sent to me (1st one stopped working) they sent me a code to buy a new one at 35% off.

I still don't understand why it won't work. The green light on the back works, it seems to be tracking steps and heart rate. The battery percentage still shows 80% like it did over 7 hours ago and it was on the charger for 2 hours. I'm at a loss.
