Charge 5 won't track after screen black

After swimming in the sea,  my charge 5 wouldn't turn on.  After charging it it turned on but had a blank screen.  I eventuality got it to turn on and the screen to work (after a supposed firmware update). Now it turns on and connects to my app but the battery drainsfrom a full charge to 0 within two hours and the lights that track the steps (etc) are not on and out isn't tracking. Basically it's just want old watch now.

I have already restarted a dozen times using the cord button.

I have already restarted using the restart in the phone.

I have twice cleared the data and reconnected to my phone.

I have checked for updates.

Nothing is working.

Please don't tell me to restart the watch again, as again I've already done that.

Is there a way to force a reinstalation of the firmware?

Hi, @JStein77, welcome to the community, swimming in the sea should not have resulted in this problem subject to your device remaining damage free. Noting the steps you have taken I think your best next step is to talk to "Customer Support" using the chat facility or phone for a prompt response. Before you make the call make notes of the steps you have taken along with the results. You do not mention when & where you bought your device, will you benefit from Fitbit's "warranty" ?

I hope this helps.

Cheers

They are sending me a replacement! Wow! I thought I would get a hassle,
but instead it was a quick chat and they checked the device from their end
and saw it was defective. Great customer service!
