Charge 5 won't turn on and it's stuck on the Fitbit logo

Hello,

My fitbit charge 5 became unresponsive (black screen). I followed the restart procedure listed here.

The fitbit logo flashes then goes black again. I repeated the process several time. I bought the device in April 2023.

Best regards.

Hi there, @5tups. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is not turning on and that it's stuck on the Fitbit Logo. Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot the issue before reaching out. I'll be glad to continue assisting you.

As per the description of your post, it seems like your Charge 5 is having battery issues. If you've tried charging your Charge 5 for more than 2 hours but to no avail, please see Why ins't my FItbit device's battery charging?

If the above doesn't work, connect your Charge 5 to the charger and try the following (while it's connected to the charging cable and even if some of them you've tried already):

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.
  • Once your Charge 5 is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Hope that helps.

see below for a conversation I had a couple of days ago with one of the FB team.  She actually said “it is a common issue that the Charge 5 doesn’t last!”    🤣. They keep asking us to troubleshoot for an issue they know has no fix for.  At least now I know not to continue to spend $$$ on a new one.  (We’ve purchased 5!!!)

Your case is already on file. Our team will review your warranty options and email you within 24 hours with the resolution.

this is at least the third or fourth that has died between my own, my husband's and my mother's. what is the normal rate of failure???

they always seem to wait to die until it is out of warranty....

Thanks for that information. With that we suggest to do some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue and if doesn't we proceed to the warranty.

May I know the best email address where we can contact you back?

what about my questions about the normal failure rate???

It is actually a common issue on the Fitbit Charge 5 that it doesn't last however our team is taking this as a feedback to products and services.

I had a charge 2 for years and was fine but the "improved" and more expensive Charge 5 has gone completely blank!! Mine was bought in May but yet can't last 6 months!! Unbelievable!! Why can't you fix this issue?! Mine charges and in app says full yet blank screen and all attempts at reset have failed!!
