Yesterday in a meeting I felt my charge 5 buzzing/vibrating repeatedly over 5 to 10 min like I was getting messages from my phone. But when I looked at it, I didn’t see anything. Afterward, I realized the screen wasn’t coming on at all and I could not sync with the phone. I’ve tried pressing the button on the cable as instructed (3 times within 8 sec, one sec per press), but nothing happens. After each press of the button, I do feel it buzz, but that’s it (this is with the cable plugged in, I assumed pressing the button while it was connected also meant that the other side of the cable was plugged in). So is this the end? Is there any other hidden technique for restarting it or making it turn on? I don’t think the battery was super low when this happened as it had been charging all night and I’ve never had charging or low battery issues with it before. But who knows. It’s never gone unresponsive before either.

Totally agree with @Talahthas.
As per the description of your post, it seems like you have a battery issue. Nevertheless and as a first approach, please make sure you've restarted your Charge 5 as described here.
If the restart doesn't work and your Charge 5 doesn't vibrate during the restart process, please follow the steps below:

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Mojamoja!
Thanks for having tried to get things fixed by yourself. I'd like to point out that trying to restart Charge 5 sometimes takes more than one attempt as timing is crucial for this procedure.
If restarting your device really won't work for you, I'd suggest letting the battery completely drain until your device will shut off. Then give it a full charge what will take longer this time as the battery is completely down.
If your device won't charge, you might want to have closer look here:
Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?
