Charge 5 won't turn on or charge

Purchased Charge 5 in November 2022.

4 months old and yesterday just stopped charging. Tried everything recommended on forums and websites to troubleshoot. After a couple hours the battery completely died. When I plug in to a wall socket, different wall socket, computer,  press the buttons on the usb connector end, it vibrates but nothing else. It just won’t charge and the screen won’t turn on!!!!

My phone app says the battery is dead.

Very disappointing!!

Hi there, @Cendfit. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before posting here. I understand how you must be feeling.

To better assist you, would you mind letting me know specific steps you tried?

In the meantime, please make sure you've restarted your Charge 5 as described here

If the restart doesn't work and your Charge 5 doesn't vibrate during the restart process, please follow the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

@Cendfit I suggest you contact Fitbit support. They will walk you through a series of troubleshooting procedures. Once they confirm that none of the procedures returns your device to normal operation and that it's under warranty, they should send you an email with an offer to replace your tracker/pebble or a discount on a different device. Note: the discount is on the full price, even if the device is on sale in the Fitbit store.

This is what I had to do when my Charge 5 became non-responsive after having it barely 6 months. So far, my replacement is working fine.

I’m in the same boat. Not impressed. If not reimbursed or replaced,  I’ll be buying an Apple Watch.

I have cleaned all contacts on the watch and charging cable with rubbing alcohol.

I have tried different wall sockets and computer to try and charge it. It buzzes when I plug it in but nothing else. I have left it plugged in at each try for at least an hour or more.

I have pressed the button on the usb charging cable 3 times at 1 second intervals on different charging points on multiple occasions.

I have tried multiple times of everything the last couple of days.

you need to stop telling people to reboot/restart the device when the battery is dead!

Now I’m utterly disappointed with the Charge 5 AND the help forum!

Hi everyone! Thank you for your messages and efforts.

Please keep in mind to use USB port on your computer, a UL-certified USB wall charger, or another low-energy device. Fast charging wall chargers, can damage your Fitbit device.

If anyone of you tried with the a fast/quick charging adapter, try using a pc port or another wall adapter.
