Charge 5 won't update the time after traveling

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently traveled out of the country and my Fitbit Charge 5 changed to show the correct time, matching with my phone. After returning home it is off by 1 hour, I have tried both resets and still the same, I have also tried changing the time zone setting on my linked phone and it didn't change the time. I use my Fitbit as a watch and alarm, I NEED it to show the correct time.

Hi, @LJT56 is your Fitbit syncing?  If it is syncing, but the time zone change is not updating correctly, there is a little trick that will usually solve this problem.

Please go to the time zone setting on the app of your linked phone.  Turn off Auto Time Zone and select any wrong time zone and then sync your Charge 5.  (If it doesn’t want to sync, try logging out of your Fitbit app and then logging back in again - make sure you know your Fitbit email log on and password!)

Next return to the time zone setting and this time select your correct time zone.  Again, sync your Fitbit (if necessary try logging out and logging in again to force the sync).

This will usually force a time zone update.  If it works you can turn auto time zone on again, if you prefer.

Good luck!  Let us know how it goes.

I've tried all your suggestions and my Fitbit is still off by an hour,
claiming:6:45 when it is actually 7:45. Since this is my watch and alarm, I
am frustrated. I'm hoping it straighteners out by itself. There was no
problem with the time when traveling away.

Hi, @LJT56 what country are you in?  Apparently there is an issue in some countries (due to change to summer/daylight savings time) where the time zones are inaccurately set.  Fitbit is aware of this issue and working on a fix.  If this is what is affecting you the current recommendation is to turn OFF auto time zone and find a time zone that is the same as your correct time and set it to that.

I find that auto time zone has a tendency to turn itself back on, so if this is what you end up doing then you will need to keep an eye on it and re-set it if this happens.  Hopefully this is only a temporary work around!

I think it just took my Fitbit a few hours to realize where it was. We had been in London for 3 weeks and it just took some time to change back.  All's good now.  Thank you for your help.

@LJT56 , yes, if you had given the information that is had only been home a few hours I might have answered differently.

But do keep the tip I gave you up your sleeve.  I travel several times a year between Europe and the USA, and although it usually works well outbound, I often have to invoke the wrong time zone sync - right time zone sync - trick on my return.

I hope you enjoyed your 3 weeks in London!
