Charge 5 won't work unless it's connected to the charger

My charge 5 does not work as it should anymore. When connecting it to the charger, either the logo shows, or the charging-level. When disconnected it's either dead og small glimpses of the logo. I got the watch, presumably new, from fitbit march 2024, and think it should be working.

Hi there, @Scoreface. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still unresponsive. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on your Charge 5? There are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. If you haven't done so yet, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Since your Charge 5 is showing the Fitbit logo while it's connected to the charger, please connect it to the charger and try the following the following steps in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.
  • Once your Charge 5 is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

Hello @Scoreface

If the recommended troubleshooting isn't successful and since you've had your Charge 5 for less than a year, the next step would be to contact Support (<-- click link). The support agent should let you know what are your options under warranty.
