The issue self resolved, so this is just an FYI.
After my initial morning sync, my charge 5 wouldn't sync. I went for an afternoon run and everything appeared normal-ish. The tracker was tracking HR, distance, etc. The only issue is the distance was off by quite a it, despite using connected mode (probably not actually connected).
After the run, there was still no sync, but these sync issues usually would resolve overnight. The next morning my tracker was completely dead, despite having charged it within the last few days. I charged the tracker, and it synced.
At this point I noticed I had no sleep data from that night, which was not surprising since the tracker died overnight. Then I noticed that the run from the previous day was missing. I then checked the previous day's heart rate graph, and there was no HR data after about 9 AM, after the initial sync.

This exact thing has happened to me multiple times now and it is beyond frustrating! My Fitbit is less than a year old and it shouldn’t just drop all my stats at random and go from a charged battery to dead in an instant. I watched mine go from 64% to 6% tonight and lost over 32k steps and all my zone mins so now my calories burned is all off and the whole point of a Fitbit for me is to track calories burned vs consumed and when this happens, I can’t accurately do this. I hate this Charge 5.

Very strange - almost the exact same thing with me today! I think something is going on. For me, when I woke up this morning, my charge 5 would not sync with the app, and I tried off and on all day but it never did sync, although the clock and everything seemed to be working just fine on the Fitbit itself.
I also restarted the Fitbit and toggled Bluetooth on phone closed the app etc but it didn't change anything.
Then, all of a sudden at 8:00 p.m. tonight or so, I couldn't get the screen to come on the charge 5 at all, and after some trial and error I realized that it had completely drained a week's worth of battery over the course of today all on its own apparently despite no real use on my part other than to check the time. Charging it right now. I guess we'll see if it'll go back to normal or not. I find this somewhat suspicious that I'm not the only one having this happen right now lol. But I am glad you posted!
Also as it is charging right now, I see that the time has reverted back to 4:08 a.m. for some reason - even though the clock/time was correct all day long today while it was on.

I own several Fitbit’s but I loved my Charge 5. I can not get the screen to go on at all. It’s just black. The fit bit logo will appear but then all goes black. I noticed one day it would not hold a charge and now this (ironic name). I have only had it one year. What can I do? I just bought the Luxe but I miss the charge and want it to work.
