How do I get my charge5 to register my steps and mileage when using my treadmill?

Hello @Shebuhan

Are you setting Treadmill as an option for an Exercise Shortcut on your Charge 5?  That would probably be the best way.

Just in case you haven’t yet, go into the Today screen on your App, tap your profile picture.  Then  Charge 5.

Scroll down the screen to Exercise Shortcuts.  There should be 6 listed.
Check if Treadmill is there.  If it isn’t, delete one you don’t need by swiping left and choosing delete.

Then you can choose Add a shortcut and then scroll through the list to find Treadmill. Tap to select.

Sync your Charge 5 and then it should show up on there under Exercise.  If you swipe left from the Clock Face a couple of times, you should see it. Scroll up to find Treadmill and when you’re ready, press Start.  When you’re finished, swipe up to see a yellow Pause button, tap then you should get an orange Finish button.

That should register your time and distance in the App.

I hope that helps a bit.

@Shebuhan Are you holding on to the treadmill while you are walking?  If you are, then that is why it's not registering many steps.  All wrist-based devices require wrist movement to detect activity and steps.

Like @Wibby suggested, using the treadmill activity is beneficial, but your wrist still needs to be moving.

It's also important to note, your Fitbit mileage may not match the treadmill mileage for a number of reasons due to the fact that treadmills are technically stationary and the Fitbit is using your stride length.  And each treadmill is different too.  What I use at home is different than my gym's treadmill.  And if the treadmill hasn't been serviced, it can cause it to be off as well.

I use two walking sticks and move my arms back and forth there is lots of movement. I have been using them for months I had a different fitbit and everything registered. I bought this new charge5 and it does not register at all except my heartbeat and time.

It registers the time and my heart rate. Yes I have used the shortcut. It just is not registering the distance. This is not my first fit bit. I had another that registered the steps I took in the hospital after I broke my wrist while it was in my backpack.

This is happening to me as well.   I get steps... just not distance.  And it's not even close...
