Charge5 turning off on daily basis yet battery over 70%

I charge the device every morning yet it still turns off later in the day. Starts up again once in the charging cradle and reports high battery %. I have done the 3 button push restart, changed the clock face but nothing has this resolved this problem which I see is all over this support community. Is there a known problem that a future firmware update will fix ?

I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts. 

Could you confirm if you performed the restart using the charging cable, as explained here ? How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Yes using the 3-press on the button close to the usb connector - will try
again. I also deleted the Charge5 from the app and re-aired.
