Checking setting Charge 5

This great grandma is having trouble tapping on the Fitbit to make changes. Can I use the app or my computer to see how it’s set and to change it?

it appears to me that it went from charging once a week down to 2 days and I need to discover why.

Hi, thank you for sharing your inquiry about the Charge 5, @skw56

It's trued that the majority of the features available with the Charge 5 need to be changed or managed through the device itself. Let me know what are the changes that you're trying to make, so I can check if the option is available in the app.

Regarding the battery life, let me know if you started noticing the battery draining problem after you started to use any specific feature on the device or if it's happening randomly. In the meantime, please make sure to check the recommendations provided in this article to improve battery life in general.

I'll be around.

Thank you for wanting to help me figure this out.  I love my Fitbit and disappointed when it doesn't work.  I've only had for a short time.I purchased it from Amazon on January 12th.
To answer your questions:
I'm not wanting to make any changes but to check what is causing the battery life to run down so fast.
I have not set it up to use any special feature.  I use to just to count steps.
Example - Charge Date/Time & PercentageMarch 11 @ 4;42pm  7%March 14 @10pm      7%March 18 @5:12pm   3%
Can you help?Susan Welsh

Hello @skw56

If you type @ and then select DavideFitbit, he will get an alert that you have name checked him (like you should have got from me doing it to you now).  If you just post a reply, he won't be alerted.

I think he's extremely busy and probably doesn't get a chance to check every thread on the off-chance someone replied.

You can edit your post by tapping the 3 dots in the top right of your reply box and then insert @DavideFitbit so he knows you're talking to him.

Good luck!

@skw56 Sorry for the late response. Thank you for sharing all this information.

The Charge 5 should have a battery life of up to 7 days, but because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary. Keep in mind that some of the feature that can drain the battery more rapidly are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 day when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Using an Sp82 clock face (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

There's an ongoing issue affecting some users where the built-in GPS chip may remain active after ending a GPS-enabled exercise, but if you're not using this feature, it should not be affecting your battery life.

Before considering other options, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general, as they have been useful for other users. Let me know if you continue to have the same problem afterwards.

I'll be around.

Hello, Can you provide me next steps on what to do with my Fitbit?  I've turned off everything I understand on my iPhone.  Messaging, Mail, Location notices or options.  I've never updated my Fitbit for any feature.  I've only have since January and it was working great until the beginning of March.

Now I'm frustrated with it because I have to charge it every 2.5 days.  3/11,3/14,3/17,3/22,3/24.

I even received email notices from Fitbit that I need to charge it.

What do I do now, Susan

@skw56 Thank you for sharing all these extra details and for all the steps that you've tried so far.

From what you mentioned, it seems that you're not using some of the features that cause the device to drain the battery a bit faster than usual. In this case, since you already tried the steps mentioned earlier, I recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. They have specialized tools and will let you know how to proceed.
