Concerns About Fitbit Device Reliability and Quality

I have some reservations regarding the quality and durability of Fitbit devices. In April of this year, I received a replacement Fitbit, and it's now been in use for approximately 6 months. I'd like to highlight that there is no physical damage to the device; it's free from any scratches or external issues. However, there are clear signs of an internal mechanical defect, especially with the touch screen display.

I was informed that my original warranty has expired. But the fact that a replacement device is exhibiting issues within such a short timeframe has raised significant doubts about the reliability of Fitbit products.

I've been a loyal Fitbit customer/user for almost a decade, since 2014, and this seems to be a recurring issue each year:

  1. Purchase the Latest Fitbit
  2. Use it for 6 Months
  3. Fitbit Becomes Defective
  4. Contact Support
  5. Receive a Refurbished Replacement
  6. Use it for 6 Months
  7. Fitbit Becomes Defective
  8. Contact Support
  9. Informed that Warranty is Expired
  10. And Repeat!!!

Are there any other frustrated Fitbit customers stuck in this cycle?

This is awful!! After my next one breaks I'm switching to a different step counter. I've seen a lot of reviews online for watches that do the same but seem to last longer.  Any suggestions

There sure are lots of frustrated Fitbit customers. It's a shame since all these customers and I really like the Fitbit. The Charge 5 is nice upgrade over my Charge 4 whose strap attachment point permanently broke. I was always gentle with it but it just broke. I'm enjoying the Charge 5, realizing that a whole lot of people have had serious problems with theirs. I'm assuming it's just a matter of time before mine fails as well.

I hope not... I've went through 3 of them.  From what I can tell you have 5-7 months on average.  It's a shame because I really liked my Charge 5 (when it works).  I just wish Fitbit's business plan didn't include having the user purchase a new device every year.  Almost like it's designed to fail.  Just saying.  🤨
